As a child, Dominic attended a Montessori school in Ottawa. He began working with children as a camp counselor in High School, sparking a passion for child education that has lasted the rest of his life. While attaining a BA from McGill University he worked as an assistant in a Montessori school in the summers and had the opportunity of traveling to Czechoslovakia where he taught English. After his undergraduate degree, Dominic received his AMI teaching diploma at the International Center for Montessori Studies in Bergamo Italy. Dominic then taught grades 4 to 6 at a AMI Montessori elementary program in Calgary. He also attended the University of Calgary for two years, receiving a Bachelors of Education. Since 2002 he has taught in India and at a Montessori Junior Highschool program in Juneau, Alaska. After accumulating a decade of experience teaching in Montessori classrooms, in June 2006, Dominic and His wife moved to Whitehorse in order for him to teach at Montessori Borealis Preschool. While working full time here he’s also working towards his Masters in Montessori Education during the summers through Loyola University Maryland. He has incorporated his strong interest in music and singing into the classroom and brings the benefit of conversing with students in both French and English. Outside of the classroom, Dominic enjoys his time as a competitive cross country skier and coach and pursues a variety of other outdoor sports in the Yukon.
